Take Back the Night, October 2, 2014

Waypoints partnered with RMWB, S.O.S and Keyano Student Committee to celebrated their 22nd annual Take Back the Night!

Despite the cold weather conditions, Thursday October 2, 2014 150 participants, volunteers, speakers, advocates and survivors of Sexual Assault gathered together at Keyano College to “Shine Bright and Take Back the Night.” This year’s event provided useful tools on how to protect yourself from Sexual Violence. A big thank you goes out to All Volunteers, Community agencies that provided booths, Bowman’s gym who attended offering a free Self Defense class, A&M roofing for providing transportation and man power for set up and tear down of the event and 97 year old Elies Yanik who bared the cold all night and offered a beautiful blessing in honor of those who have suffered from the horrible effects of Sexual Violence. There was an overwhelming attendance from Keyano College students who stood proudly as the marched the streets of Fort McMurray in protest against Sexual Abuse. We thank everyone who was able to attend and can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Below is a selection of pictures from this year's event. Click on thumnails to enlarge:
